The Gate City Grapple (formerly known as the Holy Angels Invitational), will return to the Greensboro Coliseum Complex’s Special Events Center Dec. 29-30. One of the region’s top high school wrestling events, the two-day event premiered in Greensboro in 2023 after being held in Charlotte the previous 11 years.
“The name Gate City Grapple better symbolizes the strong ties we began to establish in our new home in Greensboro last year,” said Jim Trenner, who serves as co-meet director with Kelli Shuffler. “We look forward to returning this year and adding to the Complex’s rich tradition of hosting elite amateur wrestling events.”
The 2023 Gate City Grapple is expected to feature 1,250 boys and girl wrestlers from more than 60 teams with action spread across 15 mats. Teams interested in participating in the 2023 Gate City Grapple can register online.
