(Greensboro, NC – June 8, 2009) - The Greensboro Coliseum Complex and Ovations Food Services, a subsidiary of the internationally recognized sports and entertainment firm Comcast-Spectacor, have announced a five-year agreement that will transfer the facility’s concessions, catering and merchandise operations to Ovations effective Wednesday, July 1. The contract also includes five one-year options that could potentially extend the agreement to 10 years in length.
The terms of the contract include a $2.8 million investment by Ovations, $1.25 million of which will be used for new capital improvements for food and beverage related amenities at the Coliseum Complex. In addition, Ovations, a leading provider of food and beverage services in North America, will also pay annual commissions (based on the volume of gross sales) on concessions sales, catering and merchandise sales.
“Ovations was selected because of their creative approach to food service and their partnership approach to delivering an incomparable fan experience through their foodservices,” said Greensboro Coliseum Complex managing director Matt Brown. “This agreement will be a tremendous benefit to the Coliseum from both a financial and operational perspective. We know our patrons are going to truly enjoy dining with us at the Coliseum with Ovations Food Services preparing their outstanding and delicious food.”
Ovations Food Services will bring the company’s signature fresh catering and concession concepts, including Black Angus Grill, Tamales Mexican and a Bistro Carvery, according to company President Ken Young.
“We are pleased to bring Ovations’ proprietary Everything’s Fresh™ approach to the Greensboro Coliseum Complex,” said Young. “We plan to serve freshly prepared menu items that incorporate traditional North Carolina flavors.”
